Modern World Review

Write for us

Modern World Review welcomes proposals that make a contemporary idea easier to understand without making it smaller. We are interested in thoughtful, original writing for general readers, with a clear question, a grounded line of argument and room for nuance.

What to propose

Pitch an essay or explanatory piece about an idea, cultural habit, changing meaning or assumption that shapes how people see the world. A strong proposal names its central question, explains why it matters beyond a passing trend and sketches the path the piece would take. Distinctive examples help; sweeping claims and familiar takes without a fresh angle do not.

A careful fit

Write in clear English, explain specialist terms and separate fact from interpretation. We welcome original work that gives readers context rather than a string of assertions. Do not send confidential material, unsupported claims or work that depends on professional instructions in medicine, law or finance.

How to send a pitch

Send your proposal through the Contact page, choosing the closest reason for writing. Include a working title, a short outline of the argument and a brief note about your relevant experience or connection to the subject. A pitch is welcome before a full draft; please do not assume acceptance until we reply.

Our point of view

Ideas deserve a second look

We make room for context, distinctions and unanswered questions. The aim is not a final verdict, but a clearer view of how an idea works.
